Dead Heat By Patricia Briggs

By Patricia Briggs

Book Blurb:
For once, mated werewolves Charles Cornick and Anna Lantham are not traveling because of Charles’s role as his father’s enforcer. This time, their trip to Arizona is purely personal. Or at least their visit starts out that way...

Charles and Anna soon discover that a dangerous fae being is on the loose, replacing human children with simulacrums. The fae have started a cold war with humanity that's about to heat up—and Charles and Anna are in the crossfire.

Hi ya'll! Miss me?! I've been away doing the whole life, love and the pursuit of happiness goals shtick for 2018.  I traveled the globe, celebrated birthdays and waaaay too many destination weddings for my poor pocket to handle. But It was all fun, 'cause I read along the way. I just forgot to blog and share all my emotional days with you guys. Just follow me on Instagram (@raquelsbookshelf) for a more up to date listing of what I'm reading.

So, let me get right into it here. This month's review is on Patricia Brigg's Dead Heat.

I've been late in catching on to this series. I have loved every minute of each book since book one! I've had no complaints. I appreciate the couple. Charles and Anna are the perfect match and the perfect balance for each other.
Nothing was forced and the storylines were captivating. I encourage you to read this series. Although the author catches you up a bit in each book, start from the beginning.  That way you don't get a bit lost with Anna and Charles' back story when the storyline calls for a certain reaction from each character.

Now to this story. So, to me, Dead Heat was the slowest book for me. Not sure why. But it's still a good read/listen. Charles and Anna were still explosive and the investigation was just as enticing as the others. I just didn't finish this one as quickly as I did the others.
I like seeing how Anna has grown and found her voice after the past that she endured in her first pack.  She learned how to use her innate strength as an Omega. (that's where she is neither an alpha nor submissive in the pack and she has some other qualities. Read the series - you'll get it. ;☺️☺️ ) She learned to understand it.
That scene where Charles felt Anna's fear and then shifted in 1.2 seconds (an act that would take a lesser wolf minutes to complete) was just incredible - his protective/alpha instincts went into overdrive. I just did a girly scream at that imagery.

Although Dead Heat was a slower book for me, I still recommend it. It had all the elements from the previous books: love, investigation, and action. The way Patricia weaves the storyline and the mystery is enough to keep you reading.

Add it to your bookshelf. You won't regret it - promise. :)
