Kiss of a Demon King by Kresley Cole

Kiss of a Demon King
by Kresley Cole

                                                      Book Blurb:

From New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole comes this spellbinding story of a demon king trapped by an enchantress for her wanton purposes -- and the scorching aftermath that follows when he turns the tables and claims her as his captive.

HIS OBSESSION...
Sabine, Sorceress of Illusions: the evil beauty who surrenders her body, but not her heart.

HER DOWNFALL...
Rydstrom Woede: the ruthless warrior who vows to keep her at all costs.

THEY WERE NEVER SUPPOSED TO WANT EACH OTHER THIS MUCH...
With each smoldering encounter, their shared hunger only increases. If they can defeat the sinister enemy that stands between them, will Sabine make the ultimate sacrifice for her demon? Or will the proud king lay down his crown and arms to save his sorceress?

Confession alert! I have a thing for over the top, crazy cavemen alpha males in my books. But I will clarify, this is necessary only in my books. Otherwise, if some guy does that in real life I would probably give him the side eye, a pepper spray and run! But anyway… Kresley Cole always delivers in the over the top alpha male category.

I will say I have no idea why I doubt Ms. Cole’s storylines. I read whatever story tickles my fancy in that moment. A great thing about this series is that I don’t have to read it in order. Every Immortals After Dark book I have read/listened to I have never been disappointed. Kresley Cole always delivers. Her heroines are always fierce and the heroes are always uber alpha. Love it!

Now on to Kiss of a Demon King. This book was classically Kresley. The characters were hilarious. The storyline was captivating.
side note: I listen to all the Immortals After Dark books on audio. After listening to Robert Petkoff narrate one book, I could never read the characters without his voice in my head! His narration is like a movie playing in my head.
This book had me cracking up (out loud) while at work. It had me blushing and ducking my head from my colleagues. It even had me talking out loud and adding my own color commentary “Nah girl, you don’t want to do that…. Uh huh… nuh uh! Well dang!”

Sabine was an evil sorceress, and although she was “evil” all her actions were just. Or let’s just say there was a method to her madness. I couldn’t knock her for doing what she had to do to survive. I loved her in every moment. She was regal and flamboyant and was unapologetically her! I loved her confidence.
Rydstrom was every bit the king he was meant to be. Honest yet ruthless. He accepted Sabine and tried to understand her before changing her. Even when she did something bad he made a deal with her to make it not so bad. This couple worked and I cared about their story throughout the book.

I had no qualms about this read. The action was there. The adventure was there. The hilarious cast of extended characters from other IAD books I’ve read and want to read captured me with every word. There wasn’t too much sex, gore or blab. The Kiss of a Demon King was just right.

Check it out. Read the story for what it is, and you won’t be disappointed. I promise. ;)
